so no performance increase then?

abit but no a lot i dont think . you should get abit more power but its not a lot for what you have put on the car.

Err, chaps carbs can make huge power improvements on my old std 1.8 16v (139 at the flywheel) by just putting the carbs on it was measured at 140@ the wheels,by the time you have finished playing with 2.0 blocks,TSR heads,Piper cams and stand alone management you will be in the 180-200bhp territory

Speeding is like masturbation, everyone does it ,but it's not something you should record and put on the internet!!

you can generally see 10hp+ from a pair of twin 45's that are properly set up. add cams into the equation and the carbs will definently improve power over the k-jet. fuel economy will not be overly impressive, mind you.

oh well at least it will go like a bat out of hell lol

A modern, well set up fuel injection system will outperform any carbs both in power and also offering decent fuel economy at part throttle. However, the old, mechanical K-Jet fuel injection system isn't as good as a modern one, so it tends to lean out at the top end. It was deliberately designed like this for fuel economy reasons. You can do mods to make it not do this, though. Another option is fitting carbs.

I kinda like the simplicity and old-school feel of carbs, however they too need properly setting up. Also once you get into buying throttle linkage, manifolds, etc the costs soon stack up. So its your choice!

I'd be interested to know how much it is. I get the impression that some people think its really cheap to do. I've seen a couple of (new) custom manifolds and carbs, and they tend to be quite a lot (around ?600 or so, for exmaple) once all the bits required are added in.

well i paid 165 for the carbs and a fuel pump then i rebuilt the so that cost abit ,the inlet manifold cost 111. new fuel regulater 35pounds all new caskets about 30 pounds and thats about it there are other little bits but they are not alot

but like u say u can pay alot of money out for a carb setup

a complete kit will set you back about ?1k ish for brand new gear. power per pound, the money is better spent elsewhwere. however, if you can source all the bits second hand at a reasonable cost, then why not.
