MK1 restoration / 2.0l 16v conversion

Hi all,
Well this is the car that I've had for about 8 years and I can't see my self ever getting rid of it.
The car was pretty much standard, apart from wheels and suspension.
It came with loads and loads of history and was really straight when I got it.

I drove it for about 5 years then took it off the road as it had a fuel leak and I wanted to tidy the bodywork up a bit.
As these things go, it's turned into a restoration and it's been off the road for 3 years now.

I've been collecting parts for a while now and decided it's about time I pulled my finger out and got cracking with this

anyway, Here are some pictures…

I stripped the interior to find that it had gone in the usual places
the upper rear seatbelt mount was totally rotten

The spare wheel well was shot, which i knew about and have a replacement section for

The N/S rear arch and sill are also rotten.

So then the engine came out

Ended up dropping it through the bottom of the car

The bulkhead had previously been repaired, where the clutch cable pulls through. I did put one of those stick-on repair plates on it but it's gone really rotten under it.

Removed the wings, brake linkage/servo etc. and most of the wiring

The dash is now out as well

I plan on trying to do a bit more work on it this weekend so I'll try and get some better pics up

Gary.

I've done a little bit of cleaning today and removed a bit more of the wiring from the engine bay but there's not really much change.
Here are some more pictures for you any way

Better pic of the rear seatbelt mount :(
