mk1 rebuild

Hi all new to the forum but not my first project
Started this one last year
Stripped it to bare metal replaced panels/bit of welding
floor stripped primed painted and waxoiled
here it is at the mo in etch primer
just got to get busy now!

Hi, so when do you think it will be sprayed? are you spraying it yourself?

Gonna finish smoothing engine bay next and paint the whole car in high build primer by next weekend hopefully
will paint the engine bay and inside the car first
then want to get it on its wheels and check arch work is right

no i prepped it outside and had it done ,not the greatest finish but it smartened up an otherwise straight body didnt have access to the unit you see in the pics then with all equipment
whats the paint like now?

The paints really good now. I sprayed the drivers wing and a few other bits. There were a few runs on the sills but i rubbed all that down and resprayed it so really happy with it now.
There were a few rust bubbles starting on the passenger door but i resprayed that aswell along with the engine bay, scuttle panel etc.

I was going to paint it silver grey but now its in grey primer a am thinking about  Audi aviator grey

I think that would look great with the red. I have seen a mk1 in that colour before somewhere and it really suited it.

Looking good so far, loving the pallet truck idea..

Hi i got some more painting done
its now in high build primer
started wet sanding (takes ages)
i put a post in modifications i want to run a modified 2.0 8v on twin dellortos
anyone done the same need advise on carbs fuelling etc

Slow progress ,its on wheels again, all suspension brakes etc on
been smoothing the engine bay, thats took ages
decided on a new colour  dakota beige metallic its a 2008/9 audi tt colour
should get some spare time soon

Hows DHG50W anyway ?

If thats the colour im thinking of I really like it. I saw a tt at a scottish meet in that colour. It won best audi I think

Mines still going strong. Nothings changed really but hopefully after next weekend I'll have the new dash in etc.

think that audi your talking about was a porsche colour ross i may be wrong sure ive got a pic somewhere, what info are you looking for on 8v on carbs matey?? i run a mk2 track car on that set-up??

Oh I just assumed it was an audi colour. It wasnt metallic now I think about it.
