mk1 Karmann clipper
Ive got a lot of questions to ask you.. hehe sorry.
The year before last I bought a 1.8 Cabriolet Karmann clipper-

It was in a Dodgy state mechanically when i bought it (Head gasket was gone, carb was clogged with rubbish, exhaust was naffed and various other bits were wrong)
After raising finances, which was damn hard as I was only 16, I managed to get all these bits fixed, now the car drives like a dream.
There were also a couple of cosmetic problems with the car and thats what my questions are about. This bloke who had it before me has obviously reversed into something……and its quite a big dent. Have a look for yourself.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/newrez/07062006002.jpg - Dent from the inside
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j158/newrez/07062006003.jpg - What it should look like inside
I was wondering what I could do about this. The back bumper has been off since ive had the car and I would really like to get it back on (it rubs agains the back wheel). Has anyone else repaired anything like this? Is it actually repairable?
My dad was thinking about drilling a few holes forward and filling in the unused holes, this would in theory bring the bumpers forward and inch or so. I don't agree with his idea.
I also have a crooked front bumper lol.

Any ideas how to fix this? I looked inside where it connects to the car, there are no signs of damage anywhere.
Thats all the questions I have repair wise. The last two are about origionality. My car has these decals on the back arches, they are really dull and starting to peel, in my opinion they look a bit s***-

Would it be a bad idea to take these off and where can i get replacement ones if they are origional?
Thanks a lot guys, any replys will be very much appreciated!
and I hope you like the car (from the front) lol

As you probably now, this should be angular and flat….but it isn't
Thanks, hope you get a better idea of the damage now.

As for the rear, I'm not sure! I'm no body expert but it probably depends on what sort of result you want at the end of the day. You might be able to pull it out somehow but I have no idea really.
Or, you could maybe separate the various panels where they join up and beat them out individually and replace some if necessary with some from a donor car. Then spot weld them back together after.
It might be best to just do as your dad suggests, I'm sure it will look ok unless you look at it closely as the bashed area will be covered by the bumper by the looks of it. It will stop the bumper touching the wheel anyway.
Good luck and tell us what you decide. What ever you do make sure you get enough seam sealer and paint on the necessary areas to stop the rust setting in.
Someone that might be good to talk to I think on here is Susan-and-Noody. He sorts this sort of thing out for a living I think :dontknow:

I think ill go with the drilling option as I don't have the money or the resources to take the panels appart and weld them back together
Im off to sort it out Ill get some pics up as soon as its done!
Thank you so much!
