MK1 GTI based Kit car

I had this for a few years, just getting it back on the road.

Trying to solve its bad running I took the head of and found a slightly bent valve, I can't track one down, the cam is also worn so a new head or another engine would be great. Budget is tight. If your local I could collect ASAP.

I plan eventually to install a 16v and redesign the body work. Handling is like a giant Go Kart.

What gearboxes have a hydraulic clutch have a fairly low/close ratio and would fit a KR/9A or ABF with the MK1 drive-shafts?

Picked up an engine from sphmk1, taken the head of and the head is much better than my original head, it looks like it had a recent head gasket. The water pipe from the pump to the head had a small hole split at the back  so hopefully it did not over heat too much when that went before it went of the road.

Looking forward to getting it back on the road.
