mk1 golf rivage

Just got my car back on the road

I did own the red clipper, sold this to my friend so I could buy the blue rivage. I had a petrol smell and took it off the road to investigate, ended up removing and re-bushing the beam, painting it up, removing the tank and cleaning it up, flushed it out, repainted the almost new filler neck, replacing, the hoses, etc, replacing all the brake lines and flexi's, re-building the front brakes, suspension struts replaced, painted up the back plates, strut bodies, front wheel bearings replaced, anti roll bar bushes, top strut mounts, then a few bits in the engine bay including radiator, metal coolant pipe, all small flexi hoses on injection system and distributor. sounds like a lot but didn't take too long!!!

Still more to do including a seat rebuild and replacement roof asap

I will find a better pic to post up

got my car back on the road and it passed its mot, four wheel alignment sorted out the handling woes and it seemed great, working through a few niggles but nothing too serious, then disaster struck with the fuel injection system, back off the road and in bits, hope to get it sorted this week, I really want to get back in and enjoy it.

I read through some old posts and from that contacted crazy quiffs and they quickly sorted me out a replacement tested metering head so thankfully I am back on the road and can get my new roof fitted on friday as planned, will get some pics up of it afterwards. :D

I did do the work myself as I have a bay camper and rebuilt loads on it so well practiced. I was not brave enough for the roof replacement but as I saved loads doing all the other work I felt it was fair to pay for the job to be done. The suspension is easy if you have access to a hydraulic press, I work in maintenance so some things fall into my work bag and I accidentally fix them at work without realizing !!!!

thanks for support, still more little things to be done as ever.

I think I have sorted the fuel problem for now so went about replacing blown speedo lamps, what a lot to take off just to change some small lamps, hopefully will be able to see my speed and revs at night better now!!!  :D
