Mk1 Golf Project H7

This is my project. Got it about 4weeks ago kinda fell into my lap. Started a new job and got talking to a guy bout mk1's on the first day. Sayin i was looking for one and how hard it was to find a decent one. Turned out that he had this one for 11 years(in a lock up for 8.) and was wanting rid of. So got it for a very decent price :D All interior except dash and no engine.(planning a 2l conversion anyway so saved me a good bit of time and effort)

Got it stripped down and a good look underneath, only rust found so far is a bit bout 6in in the spare wheel well and a couple 1p size bits on the front panel! Seems I've got a belter  :D

First plan is to get the underside done and out the road as soon as possible. Got a rotissiere half built this weekend should get it finished during the week. Then all the annoying time consuming work can begin :banghead:

Cant figure out how to get pics up yet! :?  So if you fancy a look check out this page!

Cheers, was your design from another post i copied! Pretty excited about it but nervous at the same time, always in the back of my mind"holy crap is this gonna be strong enough or am i gonna write ma car off!!??!!"

4 hours under mine was long enough to convince me i needed one of these!!!

Any advice would be much appreciated, like how did you get it up on to it?!?  Hope to get it finished tonight and eh test spin tomorrow night!

Think it should be ok , still got all four doors and glass in ours and the drive is on a slope. The point i put the peg in  to lock it off rain gutter is about three inch off the floor so just packed it with some wood planks with a little bit of rest on them, keeps car that bit more steady , as for getting it bolted up just jacked car higher than spit bolted them on and lowered car down

And here she is!!! :D  Dunno what I was worryin about! Tho getting her up on to it was eh funny/dangerous/scary!!! Some of the things we were tryin was unreal! Jacks on top of spare wheels with wood on top! Didnt realise it had to go up that far! In the end up tho just brute strength and lifted her on nae bother!!!

Stuck an extra support down the middle. More for peace of mind than anything else i think!!!

Now the fun can begin!!! :D

Good stuff, you got a thread for your project? I'd like to have a wee look!

Hope to get the underside done and back on all fours in 2 weeks then get the body work sorted and in primer for early November. Would love to have an engine sourced and bought before all my funds have to go towards Christmas! Maybe the jolly fat chap could squeeze a fully rebuilt 16v engine down ma chimney!
