mk1 golf GX

Hi guys this is my first VW project so started with a mk1 golf 1.5l GX. Started the project off with a full respray and change of colour, new wheels, abit of welding and a good coat of schults underseal to protect the underside. Will be starting on the engine next but not sure what way to go with it. Its still running the standard 1.5l engine with a weber dtml carb. will post any changes.

hi Al i bought it from James the guy with the white caddy van. No problems with the carb it was running rought when i bought it but a few hours spent on stripping and refurbing the carb sorted it out and its running really good now. I am thinking of replacing the motor with a bigger lump but not decided what to do with her yet, just enjoying using her as she is at the moment will do some thing with the motor come winter. As for the colour ross it was some blue paint i had knocking around at work, not sure of the name of the colour just tried it out. really pleased with the way it came out looks sweet! will take some better pics on the weekend if weather is good.

Ah yes, he bought if off me, with the intention of swapping all the doors for his caddy ones that were screwed!

The carb had a section on the right hand side that was cable tied open, causing problems with cold starting, so had to use a glove to act as a choke, is the speedo working now?

Sounds like a plan, looks great, glad to see she was saved!

Ye i had to change a few things made a new bracket up for the choke so starts when cold now, Still not sorted the speedo out yet, it works when it wants to now and then. Will start work on the interior this weekend, james used the door cards for his caddy so i might just re-upholster the caddy door card that i have and maybe redo the seats and have a custom interior job. She was a good solid car a little bit of time spent on her and she will be mint :-)
