MK1 Golf 16V

Hi,

Been on the site quite a while and read other projects etc. so I thought I'd post a couple of pics and spec of my MK1 16V GTI.   Had the car for 3 1/2 years and use it in the summer for 6 months.  Noticed that the sills and rear arches were starting to rot so I have decided to take it off the road this year and carry out a bit of a restoration.  This will probably take a good while and will be happy enough if I can get it back on the road next summer.

I have bought a couple of bits and pieces so far.  New sills, new seats, carbon door cards, roll-cage and a few other bits.  Also have a few sets of wheels and other stuff kicking about.  Still undecided if just to keep the engine as is, as it is good fun to drive at the moment, or swap etc. but I'll wait and see.  The plan so far is to strip back and check for any other rust, refurb back axle, fit polybushes throughout, fit new seats, fit roll cage, fit carbon door cards, strip out back seats and just generally freshen up with new stickers etc.

Current spec;

1.8 16V KR with a couple bits and pieces (kent cams etc.) 153BHP
30mm spax springs and shocks
Carbon splitter
OMP upper and lower strut braces
Wolfsburg steering wheel
ATS Cups

A couple of pics of how it sits just now (hopefully I do this correctly);

Thanks for looking.
