mk1 golf 1600 gti engine conversion

heyy,
im planning an engine conversion for my golf, ive been looking arround and the engine ive looked into the most is the g60 lump,
i was guna ask any tips on what i would need and any modifications that would be nessicary for this type of conversion.

What car starting with mate?

It's a 83 1600 gti.  I would of thought the engine mount is the same as a 1800 gti

Oh right i misunderstood. Thought you were wanting to convert to a 1600 gti engine.
Yeah the mounts are the same. And the g60 engine has the same block casting and mounting points as your engine. So you could just bolt your mounts on off the gti engine and it will go straight in. So thats the easy bit. Seen it done a few fimes.

Well the g60 engine has electronic fuel injection. So you would the ecu and wiring loom. Shouldnt be too hard to wire in. But i have never done it so i cant realy say.
Or you could use an aftermarket ecu if you fancy abit of engine tuning and abit of wiring.
