Mk1 Build No 2
-80mm lowering springs on the back and no engine =
Dont worry, the tints will be coming off!
Back panel and where the quarters meet is solid
It had gti arch spats on it as you can see. We will need to sand the arches down and see whats what but we think they are in pretty good nick under the cataloy.
Filler area looks fine but it will need a new neck
Its had a new front panel
We will hopefully get a better look at all the rust prone areas next week so we can see just how much work needs done but so far it looks promissing. On the hunt for parts now. Here we go again

I took off the wings to see if there was any rust hiding.
The only rust I found was a tiny pin size hole at the bottom of the n/s a-pillar
And only a few tiny spots of surface rust so were well chuffed. We will have to strip all that thick underseal off to see if theres anything hiding under that but it looks promissing so far If you saw the inner wings on my car when I got it you will see that these look a hundred times better. Its only 2 years younger than mine..
Stripped all the loom etc out of the bay and started rubbing down the old paint and surface rust. I treated the bare metal with hammerite anti-rust paint.
First coat of primer
Still a lot of rubbing down and filler work needed but atleast we are getting somewhere now.
If its a good day tomorrow I'll get the servo, brake linkage and steering rack off to paint the bulkhead.
You may have guessed it will be getting sprayed white.
