Mk1 3 door, Coupe S lump
Here's an overview of the specs
Was originally a 1.1 with a 4speed with 127,000 miles with a Webber carb
It's now a 1.3 Mk2 Polo Coupe S with a 5speed and 88,000 miles
GTI Front Brakes
Mk2 Golf Pirelli P-slots
GTI Rear Bench
Installed my sub/amp and H/u too, which are hidden by a false floor to keep a original/retro look
Just need to make some clean door pods to house my components
It has a few things which I want to do, to get it looking decent-ish… lol
Which are;
Orange indicator Lenses in front bumper
New plates without the stupid markings
New CL Splitter
New drivers Side rear cluster
Repair black side strip so it clips back on
GTI Front Seats
Source a P-slot Centre Cap
Add Gauges
That's my list for now, until I have more free time and money
Well here are some pictures from when I bought it, to where it's at now
How it looked before I picked it up
And now I have it
It came on some wide steels (not banded still wide though)
P-slots on and a clean
Starting installing ICE too
Start of Sub and Amp section
Fully Trimmed
And my progress on door pods; need to get some pockets so I can blend it in with some fibreglass
My work may look messy, but its best I can do, im not a very practical person at all, more into the technical and design side of things, and without forking out for a professional or asking people constantly this is the best I can do
Engine conversion
The car that brought the engine home, 895CC Mk1 polo
Engine out
Nearly in

Just a few bits need doing

Reverse Light
New HT lead (for coil to dizzy)
Speedo Drive, is being fiddly to get on

All new anti-freeze and oil
painted a few bits pikey style for now
And gave it a clean, as i thought it was going to be going alltypes but wont be finished in time
So heres how it looks and whats left before it can be driven on the road. . .
Engine needs a new manifold gasket - as when it comes off choke its cutting out due to blowing…
Need to either make a custom throttle cable from a Mk1 golf one and Mk2 Polo one of get a Mk2 polo Bar and pedal
Need to get airbox and air filter in (new airfilter needed)
Sort out the selector, as where reverse should be is 1st and 2nd then where 1st and 2nd should be is 3rd and 4th etc etc leaving me with no reverse
and sort out my temp and oil senders, as there not working, temp one seems to go straight up off the guage without the engine even started and warmed up. and the oil just flashes, mechanic reckons there earthed somewhere, so once i have the money ill book it into a garage for those ohh and sort the master cylinder and new disks/pads etc!
So nearly there, just need to wait till my next income of money now :p
