as all of you will know, having a mk1 is a hard habit to kick, so having a mk1 caddy project I decided, wisely or not I don't know, to buy a clipper to satisfy the urge haha!
Here she is as I bought her…. Please hold your laughter haha!
this happened as soon as I got it home
I also fitted a genuine grille with chrome, much better than the cheapy badge-less jobby and brow that was there before lol

Then i set about the door cards, handles and pockets.
when I got the cabby they were either held on with huge wood screws or in a pile in the boot, not good!
so after a day and a vwheritage field day for new clips etc this was the result
Out with the old bodge jobs
In with the new

I knew it needed another roof but didn't expect that to happen just by closing it!
oh well just another thing to fix…… Who would have thought my daily would turn into another project whoops!
Anyway after a week of leaving the cabby alone, my friends and I decided to pop a club stand outside at ultimate dubs……. They also decided the cabby should be on it, lots of stress for me then guys, thanks again! Haha sooo work commenced once again.
This was a week before U.D painting a friends vento conversion and rear bumper for his mk3 estate, I figured I could sneak my bonnet in and paint that while I was at it
Finished albeit in the wrong shade! Damn paint place ahh!

it still had to go though!
After a really long week, I took the Saturday to myself and fiddled a bit more with the cabby.
chopped the chav exhaust to something more suitable
Saturday morning
choppy choppy, weldy weldy

So back on with the wheels, a quick wash etc and off for a cheeky pic and an early night, well the pics went to plan! The early night didn't!
Afterwards I decided it would be best to see the mother, you know seeing as I would be at a dub show on Mother's Day lol!
All went to plan, then when trying to leave, the fan belt snapped! Amazing!
Called the aa, no dice after a 2 hour wait, by this time it's about 11pm, called all the dubbers I know, all either don't have a belt, are asleep for the day ahead or are out, hamburgers!
then a miracle happened, a lad with a caddy I know came to the rescue! All I had to do was get there, so I stole the mrs' car and off I went, long story short, got home with the fan belt at 2am, had to go to the car and fit it in the dark and set off to meet everyone to drive to Telford! No sleep for me then!
We did make it though

Quiet you butt-pilot!
I needed all the clips, the rear part of the handles and screw covers, the little spiral clips to attach the door cards, basically all the annoying diddly bits that could possibly be bodged on unfortunately haha

phoned to buy a new roof for the cabby, ended up buying mohair because I feel it's worth the extra £100 or so rather than putting another vinyl one on.
so for the roof and cables £270 delivered from car hoods direct!
also my spacers arrived today, but I was out so they're next door, whom is, as Sod's law would have it, out lol!
Just need tyres now another £175 haha this is getting expensive today!

in for the dreaded M.O.T
annnd it failed, wrong bulbs in the rear lights, blown side repeater, one tyre on the limit, both front wheel bearings and a steering rack gator. Not bad at all I'd say!
Lots of goodies to fix her up again, just waiting for the bloody tyres to arrive now!
watch this space!

This weekend myself and a few local dubbers are going to fit the new roof and I've even roped one of their other halves into sewing me up a trick headliner to replace the old one! Score!
i should say I will be finished with it for this year on Wednesday as I think the tyres will have arrived by then, it will have passed its retest anti will be able to drop it back to daily drive height (damn mot ramps!)

I'll let the pics do the talking but it's been a blast!
Late night number 1
A couple of mates polishing my wheel bolts
Dragged the other half out of bed to remove the sealant from the rear window seal, after she'd been to a hen do! She must love me haha!
More slave labour, polishing the wheel lips, while the centres were primed/painted
at least he's happy! His mk1 is also very nice!
Just a few of us though mind haha!

Now the headliner took an age! So kind of slowed progress with the roof, but that is today's mission, here's the headliner anyway
Plenty of people meant a tired kettle (caption? "So we agree the website name IS slightly erroneous :- plenty of fish.com should be plenty of sausage.com :- members @ latest mixer party"
That's all for now folks
