Marcopolo`s Mk1 in for some work

Marcopolo from the forum came to us recently looking to have his back panel replaced as it was looking a bit sorry for itself.
Very nice looking Mk1 i think


rotten back panel (took these post cutting as me camera stopped working in the workshop )




Out came the buzzsaw to cut the offending rot off!

then a bit of magic…
all gone


Unfortunately the car had been repaired before with another back panel but whover welded it in just seam sealed over the old rust so the steel section where the back panel meets the car had all but gone!



Moving along to the rear arches,they have had it too






Rot in the inner arch too

Boot floor has some rot in too



Tail gate is shot to bits too..


Front panel is also on the hit list,way knackered

Will be interested to see progress on this one !

My welder Larry remakes the edges of the box section which the back panel is welded too as the edges are completely shot


He also repairs the spare wheel bin while putting on a new right angle section of steel which runs along the boot floor for the back panel to be welded to



After a few more pieces are welded in on the lower rear quarter which were missing due to the bad rust the back panle was dry fitted to see where we were with it fitment wise..

looking good!
