No strong views, since both are still a work-in-progress. It might be worth doing a test-fit of all the components on the front of the car, if you're planning to do an engine conversion, before you spray it. I resprayed my front panel, but yesterday had to drill another hole in it, to make the oil cooler more securely fit…..

Another tip I've only recently picked up, its worth buying the proper masking paper rather than using newspaper. What happens is the ink from the newspaper gets onto your hands and transfers to the prepared and cleaned bodywork just before being painted, leaving imperfections.

Are you going to be able to finish (or at least make usable) the white one, in time for NWM18 (on Sunday 15th April)?

im going to get the engine in and running then take it out again before i paint the bay,
dnt know about meet but it only needs roof and bonnet painting oh and a brake pipe, dnt know how good engine is as it is new to the car and havnt ested it due to brake pipes

Both look to be nice cars, it's good to see folks looking after MK1's, they're getting rarer every year.
I like the front lights on the white one. What make are they ?
