Karma The 1.6 Auto : Chapter 2 My car
My Cab now named Karma is starting to be friendly, I have stuck with it and starting to feel it is suppose to be mine.
Karma is now running really well and sounds smooth. After unblocking air intake and actually getting some air into the carb.
The throttle cable and adjuster were the next hurdle after a few attempts in dawned on me that the cable needed to be attached rigidly around the engine bay and not just loosly flopping around.
The engine sounds very smooth, responsive and tight no more stutters, I had to settle for 1200 rpm in P and N in Drive its 900rpm and I am not adjusting so there!
Thank You to all that have helped me on here!

Running rich…. umm how greedy was/ is yours I was hoping on a good day to get 30 mpg, is this possible.
Yet to test this theory as it has been running very rich prior to today!
All of my driving is urban/ non-motorway because of where I live!
What MPG can I hope for?

Had the cab tuned and now returning 80miles per ?10 approx 35mpg, well chuffed can afford to use daily, it has become a joy to use.
The MOT is due in April and will be sad to see it go but going to try and get a mk1 tin top with the proceeds. Looking to get ?750 in April with 12 months MOT.
What will ?750 get me in the Tin top world hoping to have MOT and tax and usable daily! Am I dreaming? :dontknow:

No if you don't mind rust/ dents. Yes if you are a good car.

April's a while off yet, don't count your chickens and all that.
You get it all sorted and MOT'd and sell it? :dontknow: The weather will becoming warm and sunny and you live on an holiday island with lots of country roads, whats the matter with you man :dontknow:
Reading your threads its looks like your main aim in life is to get rid of the Golf no matter much time and effort you put into it or how good it is.

Very valid views, the foundations of me buying this car is, missus on holiday me selling my car and buying the dub!
Now missus lets be fair hates this car! None of my kids are allowed in it whilst the car is in motion!
Their is a slight possibilty when next summer comes views might change, but just preparing myself!
The rust issues of the tin top is a mjor bother to me!
I can hear you all saying put your foot down etc, but we have a great relationship, and the fact is she is gorgious and one of a kind to put up with me!
Also for some weird reason she is jealous of the dub is this normal! :dontknow:
I do love my dub so a comprimise may have to be sought, I am and a ex-biker (20 Years of Riding) with very small balls so a cab is a great option, may have to use that one, Bike or Dub
Thanks for your views more welcome is this a common problem or am I just being a bit of a pussy !

Jealousy is normal, my wife hates me working on my Rivage, and constantly telling me shes going to leave me if I keep spending money on it. My usual response is "well I was in love with VW's long before I was in love with you" You can imagine the rest. Just feel sorry for us folk who were bitten by the bug years ago!
