Honest Mk1 GL Runner with MOT seeks restorative treatment

My daughter Lizzie's 1982 Metallic Blue Golf is still on road, MOT till Jan, barely used last year, 140K miles. Maintained by me since 1994. A lot of non fatal/non MOT fail rust on valance panels, NOT on sills, etc. A few bits from Curly Quiff have kept it going, clutch and alternator have been replaced.

Everything still works and its street legal. Starts instantly all weathers after I realised idle speed spec  is 2,500 rpm for a reason …. Son just used it to drive 10 miles to work and back for three days in the dark and cold, no problems.

Engine still feels just run in, goes great and it stops fine - faster and stoppier you would currently want to :-)

Does a serious restorer want it as a restoration project? The major work would be the scruffy body and trim.

To a genuine restorer the price would be nominal - if she can see it finished.
