GTi Campaign, little resto

Picked this up a few weeks ago and sent it for MOT which it failed on due to small holes in the rear of the cills, emmisions and a snapped rear coil spring. Got it back today from my mate who restores cars and thought I would share the pice with you lot, needed a few other bits as you will see! Took all the arch extensions off as I wanted to do it properly I also had peices of new metal grafted in as I want to keep as much of the car original as possible       It is now back in to the garage for a new water pump, cam belt, full service inc plugs and leads and a re-test for the MOT. Trying to track a painter down in the Manchester / Lancashire area to paint it for me and then the interior will be cleaned and she is good to go

Well I dropped her off at the painters yesterday for a full lick     Has 12 months ticket now after 2 new rear springs the little bit of resto work, cam belt, water pump, plugs and full service etc, runs like a dream and is a hell of a lot faster than I thought it would be. The painter says it will be 2-3 weeks before she's back so that will be 4-5 weeks then   :banghead:   Really looking forward to getting it on the road and enjoying it. The gears are a throw a 6 to start, is the linkage a common thing to go on these as it like a washing machine trying to find gears??? It will just need a full valet when it comes back as after being stored in a barn for 3 years she smells a lot and is full of crap and mould  8O

I'll post some pics as and when I get them  8)  8)

A few more of it after the lacquer has been applied. No lights on in this building and paintwork not even touched yet

Have dropped off the new stripes, boot hatch stickers and rear number plate backing sticker and should see it next week at some point  8)    8)

Nice, though the rear end looks to be sitting a little high with those new springs...?

All standard issue and springs do take a while to settle, I'll give it 1000 mile if it's still high then I'll swap for some lowered items

All road legal and clean after 3 1/2 years     Goes really well. Done about 150 miles since Saturday and going to use her as a daily for a few weeks to iron out any niggles that might occur then on dry days only  :D
