Full Leather Re-Trim Project

Well after having owned my cabrio for a few weeks, ive bought Coilovers, ATS cups, fixed a few other bits a bobs (such as single headlight conversion), and then i decided i wanted a Retrim. My dad having been in the textiles industry many moons ago (15-20 years ago) said he would give it ago for me… so here is the start of what is to come….

First off a couple of pics off the Car… Not fitted the coilovers or wheels yet (hopefully will this weekend)

Now the Original Interior (I bought a Spare in near enough the same material so that i can still use the car whilst doing the retrim - Which also means I have two good bases with no bolster collapse!!!)

Then for the start of the Leather Trimming…..

Let me know how you think its going so far…

Looking good, very nice colour too, I refurbed my seats a couple of months ago, kept them original, had to do some repairs but would love to learn how to do a complete set from scratch. I didn't have accsess to a machine, so did  mine by hand  .

This would make a fascinating thread if it showed how it was all done, from scratch i.e. marking, cutting, seam lines, stitching, piping etc what a How to would that make.Brilliant

I bought 2 foam seat bases new from VW for ?139.00 inc VAT haggle for discount as these sell for ?78.00+VAT each. Have you considered putting in new bases, My seats are solid and it's great to feel the new comfy foam under my Bum.

I will watch this one with avid interest, keep up the good work.

Don't suppose your Dad might want to offer his services to others? Could be a nice little sideline for him. Looks good so far and I'm sure there's plenty of us that would like to get our seats done but don't know where to start!

Sorry for the stupidly long delay… been busy with other bits and bobs… replaced the clutch… and I've got a few other things on… with my clios and work… therefore not had the time.

I've now decided to sell the car (decided it not for me + I found I can get insured on a TVR Chimaera so I'm after one of them!!) unfortunatly and therefore the interior is no longer gong to be completed!
