1.3 swap coming soon as i have the wrong dizzy and its leaking everywhere and i could do with a 5 speed for the motorway!

i'm thinking of either selling it a nd getting another 1.5 or just upgrading the lump to a 1.5…

ive been offered a 1.3 5speed polo engine (from a coupe lol) but im a bit worried if the mounts will fit or not, any ideas?

Thats very nice. So, even with the formel e box with the higher 4th gear you dont think its very good for the motorway? Are they 165's btw?

nah the box is fine when the motorway is actually moving lol. i just need the other gear for slower but not slow traffic you see?

will the formel e box mate with the 1.3 polo engine cos whilst my comment above still stands i dont really want to faff about with gear linkages an stuff.

yes they are nankang ns2s in 165/50/15 sorry im a bit tired didnt read it very well

Ah, I see what you mean about the gearbox.

I thought your tyres looked stretched compared to mine… mine are 175's.

1.3 polo swap on friday/sat running for local gtg on sunday at 3?

I bet changing gear is like stirring paint with that stick. Swap the linkage end at the gearbox with the part from a Polo for a better experience.

id describe it a bit more like a lorry lol.

i noticed my clutch linkage runs the opposite way to the one in the polo. the polo one runs back round the firewall and is tidy but the golf one currently loops up over my rocker cover. if i re route it the other way round it should still work right yeah?

im kinda aiming at having a clean (but still functional, not like these bays with nothing in them) engine bay. ill get some progress shots of the swap on here so others can see steps as whilst everyones been helpful i havnt seen much info on the net about the small block swaps.

That's a good start dude. Nice work.

i used to run mine with that combo and a four branch and a little stainless exhaust and it went really well,mildly ported head and it was knocking at 90 bhp. Great fun. Hope youve kept the formel E badge lol
