fitting series1 dash into series2 tintop(wiring).

jeeust bought y reg mk1 golf,its got 2l 16v engine on twin 45's.fitting 16v gearbox and new stainless exhaust,then it will be awesome.i've got a series 1 steering wheel and gearstick surround(fitted),just need to fit series1 dash but don't know how to wire in rev counter and speedo.my car has twin plugs i think but series1 has 1 plug,so i need to know what to do with the wires and know what they do.please can anyone help.cheers     steveped.

I did this. If you do a search you will find lots of threads on this but from memory you will need  

A series 1 speedo cable
Obviously all s1 switches are needed (a lot easier if you get thier connectors cut off an s1 loom to splice in or whatever) but if not spades will work.
The wiring on the main instrument connector needs to be swapped around. I'll try and look through some of my old pics for this, if I dont find any the best thing to do is look at wiring diagrams or wait and see if anyone else knows..

You will need to bend the two metal bars on the bulkhead out of the way or cut them off to fit the dash too. Does your s1 dash mount by two bolts at either end of the dash? If so it will fit straight on unlike the earlier ones
