Finally got the car back.

Gents

Finally got my old car back.

MOT'd it Yesterday. I was concerned about the cars condition until I arrived in Warwick to collect it. It was almost as good as it was when it left my hands in 2005.

All it needed,

Tyres
Battery
Front discs and pads
Steering rack gaiter

Wiper blades
Engine Flush
Service
Rear brakes cleaned and adjusted due to the time left stationary.

See the for sale thread link below.

http://www.vwgolfmk1.o…ms&file=viewtopic&t=35386

Not much work required for MOT in all honesty and the faults with the car are pretty usual with the worst being the rear panel, which really has not worsened since when I had it. A bit of black waxoyl will hold it for a couple more years if required. Everything looks worse in the photos than in the flesh. If all sellers were as honest as Laura then life would be much easier when buying a Mk1.

I will post some more photographs when I pick it up from my mechanic on Monday.

At the moment I have put some series 1 alloys on the car, kindly sold for a good price to me by tallpete (as they had 4 new tyres). Cheers Pete.

I intend to get the rear panel replaced in the winter months, the panel I sold with the car was also returned with the car! A crazyquiff special, one of the first batch of rear panels from crazyquiff!

Cheers

Welcome back Gareth to your MK1

I remember you stuffing that rear panel in the boot of her back at Gaydon (2004??)

Has Pete been around yet for a nostalgic glance yet?!

Will be nice to see the pics when you get them up

Cheers

Well I have been out in the Sun all morning having a bit of a fettle and a polish. I am so happy to have the car back. I cant stop driving it!

Its funny I hated the early wheels at first but they are growing on me slowly! They are very retro.

Overall the car is still in very good condition but does need some attention to parts of the body. Mainly the rear panel and front scuttle. These will be repaired one at a time starting with the front screen area.

I will be trying to refurb the 9 spokes over the summer. Although I am being pulled towards the ATS Classics look!!!!!!

Cheers

Gareth,

Great to have you and the car back!  Does look great in the pics

I just had my S1 alloys refurbed for my S1 Gti - I just love them they suit the car much better than the 9 spokes imo.

Cheers
