Final Stretch (I think)

I thought I better post up my progress. I have started the last bit of weldin.

the start

found more rot than I thought would be there, the inner cill was shot as well as the outer

not quite as VW had intented but at least it is structural sound.

all I have to do next weekend is make up the outer cill.

Also managed to get the rear axle bolts out of the old bushes (only took two weeks some cutting and some heat  )  and finished of painting the rear axle.

This just leaves the floor pan to sort I have had a quick look over it and it looks ok so hopefully no nasties are lurking under the underseal when I take it off.

Cheers Mate, i keep looking at the floor of yours and thinking crap mine may be like that. I have not even lifted the carpet yet for the fear

I forgot to post this yesterday

a lesson to us all, cut the rot out don't cover it over. I wouldn't mind but some past owner must have paid a fair bit to have both cills plated coz It was a goodish job but why o why did they leave the rust

Nice one. I know what you mean about the carpet, More than likely you will pull the carpet up and think, mmmm its not to bad,  :o  then up come the sound deadeners and DOH.
Mine was hell, most of it on the NSF was due to somebody in the past jacking the car up on the chassis leg and crushing it, and it just began to rot from there. I ended up removing the chassis leg and then repairing it seperate and the stitching it back on. :|
Keep the pictures coming though mate let me know what them floorpans turn out like. Cheers Joe
