Dubgrrls Mk1 GX

Hi all, I'm planning on putting up pictures of my GX, all through its resoration. I'll start with some as it came:









and the interior:

This is it with the new valance, still got the filler etc to do!

Need more time and money!!

Keep meaning to do some of the filler in the evenings after work but cant summon up the energy…. maybe tonight! :oops:

must be due to the weather changing! I've been meaning to get out there and start rebuilding a cylinder head  :roll:

keep the pics coming of your progress… always good to see a Mk1 coming back to life

Will do!

I have a crazy idea that its going to be taxed, mot'd and ready for the 9th oct so I can take it around the track at Utterley Vee Dubberley (or however u spell it!!)

It's Mot ran out a yr ago and it hasnt had one since so Ive no idea how this one is going to go!

It runs fine - up and down our drive! Only drove it back from where we brought it and it seemed ok then

The valance was bad so we had to do that for the MOT

When Steve had a look at the weekend he thought maybe the shocks need replacing and possibly the brake lines - depends how the test goes as they may be ok. I want to get new shocks and springs anyway but ideally get it MOTd first and then save up for the new ones. Probably need new brake discs etc too. Until its had the MOT we can't really tell as all seems ok - but i know how that works from the MK2 - thought it was running fine, took it for its MOT and it needed new breaks, brake lines, steering rack, shocks and the exhaust was too loud  :(

Hi,

I'm breaking an A Reg GX - all parts available and in good condition. Car had only 2 owners and done 103k but rotten in the usual place at the back beam so unfortunately scrap. Mail me if there is anything you need to complete your restoration.

It's where the steering wheel should be…..

i dont know what he did but he said he wont pass it this year if we still have it on!  :roll:

i dont know what he did but he said he wont pass it this year if we still have it on!  :roll:

If its the standard exhaust and it failed, it can only mean that its either needs replacing, or there is a leak somewhere. If its a non-standard system, then its up to the discretion of the examiner. There is no such thing as the maximum allowable volume - the MoT manual simply says it mustn't be louder than a typical car of that make/model! So if a manufacturer makes a loud car, the MoT will pass it if its even louder, but not by much.

its an aftermarket twin backbox thingy - it is very loud but ive heard worse…. anyway as it happens, last night we reversed into someones drive and the angle was dodgy and it hit the floor really badly - its all twisted all the way up so we're getting a new full system
