Must admit, you've got 90% of a Mk1 in replacement panels!

good neat work there so far, I should have removed the engine on mine before I put the front panel on and made the engine bay all nice

how's your welding skills?

think you need a picture of the car sitting there, and all the replacement panels around it where they'll be going

thanks for the offer Scouse, will bear it in mind, bit harsh to cut up a good shell tho as most of us on here are trying hard to get it back to good condition :dontknow:

any way not much but here they are:

offering up new front panel:

quick qeustion guys, is it better to place the inner wings then front or front then wings, cheers

WOW! huge avatar mate

what I did was do the inner wings first but clamp the front panel in place as a guide making lots of measurements to make sure it's all square, then when I thought it was all in place, trial fitted the bonnet to make sure it was spot on!

good work there though  :y: when do you plan to have it finished?

ah now it all makes sense, cheers phil, yea should have the bodywork repaired and prepped by summer if weather stays good, main problem is going to be the turbo FSI engine :banghead:

BACK SOON..............

not sure if that's the 'best' or 'proper' way to do it but I couldn't think of another way to line it all up and done the job nicely

does sound like the engine will give you some headaches but it'll be worth it! make sure you get to Gaydon this year as i'd like to see it  8)

I agree with Phil - Try and fit all of the panels in place and either Clamp or use one or two spot welds. Place the bonnet and the wings on and see if you are happy with the alignment.

This is the way I did mine too, though I only had to do the front panel!!! 8O
