Diamond Copper Brown GTi
Thought it was about time I put a thread up for my MK1 seeing as I'm going to be picking everyone's brains just shortly with regards to my turbo plans
He was built in 1982 and imported from Germany in 1984, body is pretty much immaculate bar a few scratches which will be getting sorted soon. I'm the 2nd owner of the car
Here's some pics
Plans - Got coilovers sat waiting to go on once I've got new wheels/tyres, thinking of some polished teardrops for now.
Hoping to get a turbo on him, how easy is it to put a turbo on the existing 8v engine if it can be done? Any stories etc would be helpful

Scouring eBay for an old turbo technics setup would be your best bet, keep us updated on any progress as that looks like a tidy mk1

Been doing some thinking over the last few days and I'm wondering if it would be any easier/cost effective to just put a new engine in.
Thinking of going for the BAM 225 engine, does anyone have any experience of putting this in a MK1? What kind of cost etc am I looking at?

Some updated pics
Day after the wheels and coilovers went on
My tin top and the other halfs cab
Resprayed my grill
Still saving for a 20vt lump at the minute but with a flat to run too it may take a while!
Plans for this year get him tidied up a bit more, get some fresh white wall toppers ready for show season, respray my wheels, wind the coillies down a bit moreand get a few interior bits sorted

The wheels make it look like a toy car I think, took me a while to get used to them as they completely changed the look of the car.
Yes front plate does need sorting desperately, it was only thrown back on quickly for my MOT haha!
Does anywhere actually still make the 3D plates?
Have thought about other engines, mainly G60 and ABF. The other half has an ABF lump waiting to go in his cab so I may see what that drives/handles like.
Thanks guys

let me know if you find a place that does the raised lettering plates, i know emdee on edition38 got some for his mk2 coupe polo, i want to get some for a few of mine.
ABF will be a very nice choice, plus go very well turbo'd!

I keep seeing your car at work in the carpark, did wonder if would appear on the site. I must admit the colour is great and the wheels really work well.
My daily is a black mk3 16v, give us a wave when passing.
