Decided my car looks rubbish!!
SERIOUSLY unhappy with it to be honest… the roof is poo as is the sides! all due to bad prep work (the spraying is fine though!)
so, I'm going to keep going and get it on the road anyway but will respray it again soon.. I ideally need to run a DA sander to get a better finish and my compressor just doesn't cut it!
what sort of power/capacity am I going to need for to run an average sander? currently using 3HP 25Ltr.. can you just buy a bigger 'bottle' for it?
Or, I'm thinking maybe a bodyshop would do the prep work and get it in primer for me to spray :?
opinions welcome

I know what you mean - It is hard to see how good your prep is before the shiney stuff is applied.
There are a couple of bits on mine which I'm not happy about, due to my poor prepping…
Not much I can do now though except use it, abuse it and do it properly next time!

You'll have to remember that you'll struggle to get a professional finish on your first go. Yeah you might not be happy with it but you are doing it to get the car on the road and driveable not a concourse show winner.
Don't feel dishartened - If you are really unhappy with it try cutting back some more - you can always put some more paint on.
Getting a body shop to do the prep is going to be costly as this takes the most time.
Getting a bigger tank does help - I've got a 150 ltr. Nowadays it is probably better to buy a whole new compressor than try and fit a new tank.

If you want to run a DA sander go electric not air , the size of compressor required to run a Sander will be better spent on electric tools . I use to have air powered da ,drill, chizel, angle grinder etc etc but now find that electrical goods are so much cheaper and more convienient that the air powered tools are no longer used .
Don't be too put off by your first attempts at body work it all comes with practice and experience . Finish the car and worry about the looks later .
Cheers……..

Been looking on MachineMart's web page.. think this would be up to the job??
Click me ya beast
or would I have to go for something alot more hardcore?
this one looks good
Bit more like it
I think I'll feel better about it when I'm driving it, just wanted the hard work to show in the paintwork.. at least there's no rust in it for the next few years (at least) anyway!

still cheaper than a new compressor though
cheers for the advice
I'll get it on the road and worry about the bodywork again later
