car cuts out when braking to stop

Hi, Im new to this forum and would like to ask for some advice. I have had my mk1 golf cabriolet for 2 months now and every time i am braking to stop at lights etc the revs drop right down and the car stall's :banghead: . When it is running its fine. It has a stage 1 head with weber DMTR45 carb/pipercross filter. The car runs fine on idle once she's warm just an issue when car is under breaking. If any one has any idea's i would appreciate greatly thank you

Hi,

I would guess at an air leak in the vacuum pipes around the carb and distributor. Has it got power assisted brakes, and could there be a leak in the pipes? If they look old, the simplest thing is to replace them all.

It could be a problem in setting up the aftermarket carb. Does it stall with the engine hot and cold?

mine does this and I think its down to the fact there is no air filter.
