Hello mate. Have a read HERE about how to post pics. You will need a photobucket account or similar. Not too difficult to get to grips with.

Hope this helps

Whats your plans for the golf then?

Going for the ambitious approach ;) it has a 1.8gti engine out of a MK2 says the person I brought it off, going to stick to that as the insurance would be very high if I put the 1.8T in as I'm 19
Looking to get it running at the moment
Re-spray it inside and out in purple
Air suspension (if I sell an organ)
New wiring
It's mainly the cosmetics I'm going to go all out on this one

Looks like you've got enough Coca-Cola to keep you going.

Had the day off today so stripped the car found only a few penny size rust. All is good
Started to take the soundproofing out (wish I didn't) sticks like s& T ,any suggestions how to get it out without dynamite?
The mk1 has a 1.8 16v KR engine in with a 2y gearbox put in by previous owner.
So at the moment is working out what is missing  :P
Going to whip the engine out to tidy up the bay.
What's your thoughts on sandblasting the car to remove all the C& P ?
Once the engine bay is clean going to smooth it out prime it ready for painting.
I was thinking on putting new looms in, is it worth it?
Going to get someone to remove the sunroof and put a normal panel in as I have no welding skill
So that's about it for a while I will put some pictures up soon when I get the car out the garage again

nice car mate, to get the sound proofing off (nightmare) i used a scrapper and heat gun, to scrap the top off, then used thinners/used patrol to clean the rest off......horrible job mate and wear gloves....

LOL @ Pip spotting the Coke in the background.

Insurance would be a nightmare for you mate on a 1.8t but I think the 1.8 will be plenty rapid enough. Good luck with the project mate.

Not done much to it for a while due to work only managed to get the sound proofing off an angle grinder with a wire brush type attachment works wonders but very very messy but goes through it like butter.

Yes smudger it will be enough I guess ;) maybe for my next project, or is that thinking too far forward

The iPad doesn't like uploading pictures on here so here's some links if they work

Spare wheel well always used as the bin
Photo Storage

Taken all the old deadening out cleaned it up then primed it (not the tidyest but it's not on show)

Used 40 square foot of dynamat not much of the floor covered, some more is on it's way

Nothing has been done on the outside yet got some rear arches and left sill on its way that's all to be welded on.

Apart from all that, I'm getting a technically minded friend around to get the engine complete and working

I have brought some R1 carbs and I take it that the existing pump will not be up to the job. So any suggestions on what pumps will be alright for the job?
Thanks people!

Bosch 044 should be plenty powerful enough. I have one on my 20v turbo.

Absolutely nothing has been done recently, slowly building up parts but not getting round to fit them due to being away. This weekend some progress may be done but a few queries
Having got the fuel lines and noticing on a few forums that they have a "feed and return"? At the moment the current parts I have goes
Fuel tank>filter>pump>carbs
Do I need anything in between?
