Big Grins Machine

Howdy.

After sifting through piles of rusty pump, that people had the cheek to call road-worthy, I was shown this little beauty by a bloke on here.

It's not the GTi I was after, and it's definatly different to the 300 odd bhp Scooby I usually smoke around in, but I had a massive grin on my face for the 150 mile trip to work.

Just a couple of minor issues to attend to (bit of overspray here and there, new rad and thermostat, hyperactive oil warning light) and i'll be happy.  (untill the bike carbs monster hits  )

Cheers fellas.

I dropped a new rad and thermostat in today as it was running a wee bit hot. Driving around with the heaters on in this weather isn't much fun.

The old stat had some scoring on it where it had been sticking.

Old cars are for winners. 15 quids worth of petrol for 150 miles, and cooling system sorted for about 60.

I may never drive my subaru again,

Stripped some of the engine bay tins out today, for a coat of Soothrite. It should tidy things up up a bit.
Also continued with the overspray degunge. I attacked all the wiring in the bay with thinners, and a coulple of spots on the doors, and in the boot that had been spurged.

How hard do Mk1's look without bumpers?!
I'm tempted to leave it like this!

I'll get some after shots when she's back together.
