92 Cabby in Dubai

I have a 92 LHD black cabby that is having some TLC spent on it and hopefully a AAA VR6 dropped in it if we can get it to fit and wanted to know what wheels would be a good fit.

I have seen pictures of a nice lowered black cabby with BBS alloys sitting low and proud. Can anyone tell me what the best size would be 15 x 6? can I go any bigger?

What tyre size would suit best?

I live in Dubai so have the only Mk1 golf in the country as far as I know and as such advice and parts are hard to come by.

Anyone ship parts internationally?

Cost me 250 quid to buy some coilovers from Germany and same again to ship them….robbing gits.

Any advice would be appreciated.

mk1 in dubai, you are not alone mate. i know a guy who was post to my page. he have a cabby too.

if you put a vr6 to your car, you should use bigger brakes on front, so it means u can use minimum 15'' wheels.

bbs's are fashion. :D  RM or RS looking good on mk1s. if you want to keep your car low, 15'' are ok.

i live outside of UK too, so i know difficulties about finding parts.

for original parts, ask to CrazyQuiffs for international post. they can help u.

good luck

Brakes and wheels

Thanks for posts……….what advice would you give about upgrading the brakes? Just bigger discs on the front? seeing as the intention is to stick a VR6 in her.

What disc size do I go to? Do I stay with rear drums, I have heard that the disc conversion has a tendancy to lock up.

What about rim size, thinking of 15" or 16" what about offsets, stick to 38?

All your valued advice is appreciated as always.

mk2 16v golf rear disc set up bolts straight on, you need to use scirocco handbrake cables tho.

Fronts you can get lots of different ones. 280mm is plenty. and depending on whats local to you i would say have a look at vauxhall conversion.
