83 Driver cherry pop

hi all, ive been posting quite a lot on here over the last few weeks before during and after my purchase.

 i managed to get me courtesy of "plasticfantastic" a great lil motor

A reg phase 2
82K
2 owners altho second owner bought it and garaged it for 14 months
service history
all paint windows and body work all original
NO stereo
with 12 months MOT and 6 months tax (thank u plasticfantastic)

all in all a great find and buy and a solid basis to tinker about with

im not one for modding slamming and anything too ludicrous, im just after keeping stock with a few subtle additions

plans are wolfsburg steering wheel (done)
full service (done)
weber as she runs a bit sloppy at idle especially
steel wheel refurb/repaint
paint and clean up engine bay as rusty on rocker cover, cam belt cover and radiator sides
sort boot out as the carpet need supporting with mdf/plywood base
install stereo!!
get VW grille badge (done)
clean her! (done)
eventually sort seats as could do with re foaming driver seat and poss retrim
respray but it doesnt really need, i think good clean polish detailing etc should see her good!

Glad to hear you have lots planned for her, it looks like she went to the right place!

Id strongly urge you to consider the respray though, as the original paint is very good. Id go and look for someone who specialises in paint restoration a they're getting harder and harder to find in original paint. It is amazing how paint can be restored, i have seen splitties have 4 layers of paint removed and the originl paint restored to a good standard. You cant beat factory paint.

If I were to respray it would be way down the line as ££££££ but it would be in regatta blue to keep the look as I love the original colour.

Paint restoration does sound a good call tho and prob cheaper .

Done wheels today and got stuff for engine bay to do weekend…. There goes the time with the mrs
