81 gti vr6 conversion

hey guys i am thinking about a vr6 conversion but i am a little put off on how messy and expensive it can be off what i have seen posted on here so i was considering theese options sc g60 ,16v on tbs ,or the vr so any ideas info or reccomendations would be of great help thanks

16v on ITBs gets my vote as thats what im doing! :D.

I wouldnt say vr6 is worth it in a mk1. As you have to make custom engine mounts where the standard gti ones fit on a 16v and a g60 lump.
And the VR6 only makes 192hp is it? And thats the corrado 2.9 one. Can get that from a standard 16v with some decent cams.

I would love to fit a VR6 motor in mine! There is alot of work as you say and that put me off. They are a heavy engine which isnt too good in a light mk1 shell i guess?

I know it sound daft, but has anyone done a bike engine in a mk1?  :dontknow:

That car is awesome! Bike engines problems are they have no torque though. Car would have to be lightend alot.

I think Busa v8 that they put in the arial atom would be a good swap. ;-) When i have money! :D

but would it make adifference if i was to go ahead with the vr conversion and anti roll bars fitted i mean im aware of the mount situation but apart from that and maybe depending how it works out with altered drive shafts .im gonna b getting the 190 bhp plus option to supercharge ?? and that SOUND  gets me every time :) .so just wondering what would be the hardest parts of the conversion
