4 years stood behind a barn! White Cab

Right then,

I promised I would keep you upto date with the progress on my "Dizzy Girl"…
I found her listed on ebay, and I guess that's where it all started.

As with my usual ebay experiences, I find the pictures always look better than the real thing. So I don't read the waffle that the seller puts, until I win the item. It adds so much fun to the sale!
Let's face it, if you dress anything up it will sell!

I picked her up from a farm just outside Romsey, Hampshire. Last weekend.
For some reason the whole family wanted to come? So we all went. Truck, trailer and an army of pushers to get her on the trailer (A fantasy is all it was!).

To say she hadn't turned a wheel for 4 years was a statement! All the wheels had rusted themselves on solid.
A good belt with the lump hammer and she was away. She rolled straight up onto the trailer, and stayed there until last Friday.

The previous owner had lost the keys.

By the way, the green tinge, is moss! As some bright spark pointed out, "it's got Moss security alright!".

Anyway, here she is, sat on the trailer down the bottm workshop, awaiting her destiny………..

Firstly she needed a good wash!
2 hours after she'd been blasted with the pressure washer, we then put her up in the top workshop to dry.

Time to start work.
Decided to pop in for a couple of hours this morning (Sunday), to scratch my head and figure out why I wanted her???

This bit is a tad tongue in cheek, but hey!
Most technicians rely on diagnostics!  Mechanics tend to use their loaf. (VAS 5051 It won't help me today!!!). We have one, something to do with work!!!

Firt of all, I needed a key! (As the customer lost the keys 4 years ago, thus being the reason he left it!!!).

New Head stock, lock barrel and key.
I have always predrilled the head stock so that the next time I need to change the barrel, it's easy to do with a 3mm drill bit. Simple!
Also I did this because I'm going to go back to the original locks after i've matched up the original barrel and new key.

So the key is just a donor for now.

The easy bit…….

Cleaned up the old plugs, sniffed the very old petrol in the tank (that's bad fuel!), topped up the oil…..
New set of ignition leads, new battery, rotor arm and a good squirt of brake cleaner down the carb.

Told her she was wonderful, and naturally she fired!!!

Not many things are simple to start, as a old VW.

Now onto the next problem. What will i do next?

Checked all the light are working, just a few terminal to clean and we'll be away!

Now then, the bloke told me he'd got another hood. Well here it is all rolled up…..
On further inspection it really is a brand new hood, just covered in that beloved moss!!!!

She really does still stink of mold and she seems dry (NOT!).

Stuff this, I've only been here an hour, so the hood just had to come off!

Flying along so out came the seats……

and carpet too!

Help required here!!!
Can anyone tell me anything about this White Leather Dash??? I remembered this was the whole reason i bought her!!!!

Come on someone must know something???

The dash does need a damn good clean, but I can hear my belly rumbling, so it'll have to wait  :)

Off home for some grub  :)
