20v Turbo Conversion-Mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet........

Hi i have a project on the go at the moment,well a no go or at least a go slow Mk1 Golf Cabriolet,along the line of things to do is the engine & im considering a 20v Turbo …

I have aquired a qpeng ecu & wiring loom to plug & play & a MK4 Golf as a Donor Car….. I am after a comprehensive list of all the things needed to put the 20v Turbo in the MK1…….Many thanks for any feedback Given…I will get some pics up along the way… :D  :D  :D  :D

How much of the Mk4 will i be able to use … Does the Gearbox go in the mk1 & What about Hydraulic cluth conversion..
List as Follows..
1.8 20v T Engine
Q-peng loom & ECU for Mk1
100mm Drive shafts
02j Engine Mount.????.

Hydro clutch conversion will require a hole drilled in the bulkhead for the slave cylinder (believe that's what it is)

The pedal box will need to be replaced for one with a hydro clutch (for example - corrado)

If you didn't want to use the hydro clutch then you can get a cable to hydro converter that were available on Seats.

The engine will fit and the engine mounts are available i think from the caddy forum or eBay

you can use the cabby driveshafts as they are 100mm i believe

i think that's about it.
i hope this helps and i'm sure someone with a more extensive knowledge will be along to correct or add

get some pics up though and good luck with the conversion

1was doing this conversion and as long as you can weld i thought it would be pretty easy to weld a bracket or two to the column and modify the pedal to operate a master cylinder pointing inwards with a remote reservoir.
