1986 GTI cabby tidy up and improvement

Thought as things are kicking off now I should post some pictures and some progress since buying the car last week…

Here she is as I got her, low mileage with pretty much everything original bar the wheels and a retrim to the seats.
Look like the hood is pretty recent too, as I doubt a 24yr old one would look that good!





Liked the pressed plates on my old car so bought some to freshen it up a bit, the old front was cracked anyway.
ALso clean and polish….

Tried some 13" banded steelies from a friend, this is what I am looking to go for but in silver.
And to lose the 4x4 ride height!





Last weekend managed to get time to fit the coilovers, but can't drive it with these wheels on as they rub the arches.
Should have the original 13" wheels refurbed by next weekend and put them on til I can get some banded steels done.






Next bits will be Black arches and splitter, wheels I can actually roll on and replacement backbox as mine is holed (original has done well!)
