1984 gti cabby karmann

hi people, got hold of this 1984 gti karmann recently for a good price.

Thinking of getting a new or reconditioned 8v engine and fitting 45 dcoe webers, anyone got any advise on where to get an engine? also keen on any good advise on fitting carbs to it.

Why dont you just restore your engine instead of buying another one ?

just feel that when completely recondioned engines are available for 600 notes with 12000 m waranty, seems abit daft to spend 400 getting my own engine upto scratch with no waranty and increasing my workload massively.

looks nice mate, is that a sportline interior i spot ? wana sell it / do a deal with standard interior and some cash :-) ?
