1982 Golf Cabby, saved from the crusher

Hiya im new here and this is a mrk 1 ive been given FREE as long as i tow it away before June, its an 82 Cabby and a little rough missing a lot of parts! im not sure how bad it is but i know the outer body is very solid! it just looks rough! im hoping to restore it but i need to find out how bad she really is first!

Another Northerner! Excellent!!

I'm around darwen quite regulary and only work in Blackburn. If you need me to have a look at it then I can do. Mines currently undergoing a full resto so I've seen the rusty bits on mine and what to look out for!!!!

ok im picking this up on Monday, ive also got a donor mrk 1 to pick at for parts, i need to have a good clean out with it, so power washer everwhere and strip the carpets out

im looking forward to it, i need to pay my membership on here too when i get payed :wink:

off the trailer on the street, had a play with the roof

stripped the interior of all the junk in there

heres the engine 1.5 auto no idea if she runs though :mellow:

thought id hoover it out i just dont like working on filthy cars

leather seats (anyone know what there off? they seen VAG?

retro glasses found under the seat, be wrong not to drive it without these babys on :P

plate holder jobbie also found

i got a non genuine grill with the car, not gonna fit this but thought id put it on for now


well thats it big thats to Frank for bringing this back proper sound guy

looking at the car i think the screen surround has been changed, Calvert noticed this, i think the wings are non gen so there going as the swage lines dont match up right

i need quite a few parts for this but ive got a few lined up

had a few curtain twitchers on the street and did they offer to help? Noooope

brilliant, got to love curtain twitchin neighbours. none have ever offered to help me though. having said that either side of my hous have moved away. lol. when are those wings commin of? you got a price in mind?

shampooed the hood and looks loads better :)

sticker removed

found so i blasted it with the jetwash and it grew into a hole  :P

removed the horrible plastic bumper and towbar

what the hell is this? :unsure:





got the car in the garage nice and dry after 5 years in a garden

That is a wind break Ste! It goes over the back of the rear seats and up to the roll bar. When you're driving with the roof down it reduces wind noise and turbulance in the front. Like this:



If you don't need/want it, i'll take it off your hands.

Those wind breaks are really good!!!

And being a but of a Magpie, will you be re-using the towbar? First dibs if not!!!!

Well done on saving it from rusting away dude, definitely looks well worth saving 8)  A couple of new panels and some paint and it'll be sweet! Thats what most mk1s need anyway so its no more work than usual :D
