1.8t rev counter

hi there people just gunna throw this out there..i have seen a lot ov people doing these 1.8t projects and having problems with the rev counter not working..
iv got a 1990 cab with an agu 1.8t 20v in it..crazy quiffs sorted the loom out for me and the ecu..and iv got to that stage in the build were the engine turns over but no spark..plus the wires thay gave me for the fuel pump dont seem to be working aswell..

sum are saying that having the mk1 golf clocks, and not having the rev counter working will stop the points from sparking..im no electrician but my mate is thats helping me is, and even hes having a prob..

any help on this would be amazing..especially wot bits i need to get..i have spoke to crazy quiffs and there saying it mit be the rev counter issue..

thanks for your time..  ben

to get the rev counter working with mk1 clocks you need a converter to get the 20v engine to talk to the mk1 clocks, I wouldn't have thought that would be the problem in getting it to start.
