1.8 GTI Cabby( my first VDUB)

Well here's the story so far.
Iv'e spent the last two years hart broken at the sight of my mates 1990 cabby  sat in the corner of his car park looking very sorry for it's self.
I made him an offer about a year ago but he declined, saying he was getting round to sorting it.
Fast fwd another year and a substantially smaller offer and she's mine.
my first VW golf. I posted on the newbies thread a couple of day's ago and posted a couple of photo's.
When I opened the door for the first time I nearly fell over from the smell of rotten stagnant water. Each foot well has approx 3 inches of water in it.
What had I done.
Well she's at my house now and I spent a couple of hours ripping the carpet out and removing the water. Now, I was expecting to find a whole rotten floor in need of a complete floor pan replacement. But no! all the floor pans must have been replaced fairly recently. so a fairly good start.
I also splashed a spot of water over the worst of the body work and that too seems better than expected.
Tomorrow the rest of the seats and carpet is coming out for a full inspection.
And so the project begins.

Good luck with your project…
I know it seems overwhelming in the beginning, but when the pieces start getting done and you see it starting to take shape you feel a whole lot better!!!

I am not even half way through my rebuild yet  8O , but getting there.

All of the best again :y:

Been busy today. stripped out the interior, and gave it a fairly good wash.
I'm quiet happy with the results so far. Just need to get it going.

Well been a couple of weeks now, progress has been slow(ish) work keeps getting in the way. But the loom is out, the roof is off, interior and trim out. the body kit and wing's are coming off tomorrow and then it's the running gear.
