"EDITH" Project
Hi mewbie here, and i just thort i would share my MK1 Golf Caddy build with you all. I know its not a GTI but hey… :dontknow: . I bought it back in December as a 1.6d NA with the intentions of a restoration with a few modifications. It was in a sorry state when i got it but it has the potential for a nice truck. This is the build so far so here we go…..
When i got it.
Once stripped found some rott in the floor pans.
soon repaired them
worst of the few holes ended up like this
Out came the engine one day ready for the engine swap and a bit of smoothing.
Some more rot was found in the engine compartment, soon got it sorted
clutch cable hole
Near side chassis leg had took a smash at some time.
Doner engine 1.6td from a MK2 Golf van
And i am now at the stage of cleaning up the brakeing and suspension parts ready for it to go back on with coil over shocks lowering springs.
Hope you enjoy, cheers Joe

ouch! thats some rust!!
there's a guy on the caddy forum that does "flipped" rear axles on an exchange basis, i bought one of his 1st and it drops the rear by 100mm and you can use the spacers to drop/raise as you wish
well worth taking a look at the forum, loads of helpfull guys there and loads of projects going on so you wont be lacking in ideas

great bunch of guys, worth checking out if you havent already
the guy who runs the forum has got a white VR6 caddy, and they have a shop front, cable change gearbox mounts, 20vt mounts etc etc
check out me and my mates green one - just search for my posts (same username) and you'll find it

Some nice work going on there :y:
Might have to get a caddy one of the days - a very useful tool indeed.
