'83 More door GX

I've always wanted to buy a mk1 golf, but could never find one that I could afford or get insurance on. Until I found my GX… Went all the way to Fordingbridge to find it and came back a happy man… She's Lhasa Green, running a GTi cam and exhaust manifold, with a mk2 inlet and jetex exhaust, all to help a twin choke progressive weber carb.I've had the car for little over a month now and have changed most of the ignition system just to make sure. She's got a little misfiring problem through the carb, but that should be easily fixed by the end of the week. Nice tidy little project I bought with only touch ups needed.

First funny story of the day; I had the car only a day, and after coming home from work, drove into my drive and bashed the sump. Only to find out whilst watching the football team I play for, that half the sump's contents were on the floor. Luckily it was only a small crack that I could get welded at a garage I used to work for.

Things I plan to do to the car is to restore the paintwork and sort out little rust patches, along with a flakey bumper which was aerosoled and a scratched window. I'm unsure on whether to go out and buy a set of coilovers and go lower or buy a larger set of wheels… which I'll probably get steel and have banded… But with my tight budget only small repairs will take place until summertime. So watch this space.
