got a bit more done today,ive went with 256mm front discs and vauxhall calipers i also seem welded the wishbones and added a lower strut brace.

Like the restore so far the mk1 is looking good :) but a few questions.

1) Whats that frame called that your mk1 is supported on and where do i get one.

2) Did you use a joggler tool when you fitted the plate for the sunroof and was the roof distorted when the sunroof frame was removed.

Im asking as im about to start the restore of my 1980 jetta coupe and it would be great to rotate the car and i need to sort out the after market sunroof that has been fitted.

its a roll over jig ,you can buy them , but to be honest if you can weld and have a bit common sense you can easily build them.i got the steel from a scrap metal merchant and they only charged £10.00 .
yes i used a joggler to do the sunroof,dont forget that if you do it you will have to replace the roof bow that would have been removed when they put the sunroof in

How did the roof turn out? thought of doing the same on my one, easier than swapping the whole roof skin!

thanks mate !.the roof looks like it turned out fine but the big test will be when it comes out of the garage in the narural light
