'76 GERMAN Mk1 GOLF 'L' WITH ONLY 11'000 KM ON CLOCK!

Hi All,

I am very new to the Mk1 scene, I have been an avid Mk2 Golf GTI owner for years, but recently I have got hold of the below Mk1… PIX BELOW!

It?s a German Left-hooker 1976 Mk1 Golf 'L' 4speed 2-door in Mars Red/Orange.

It was registered and owned in Belgium and only has 11'000 Kilometres on the clock YES only 11'000 NOT 110'000! It comes with the original Belgium Pink Slip registered on 08/03/1976 AND I got the old girl for only ?1'500!! :?D

The car does need some light restoration like a few rust spots and a same colour respray… but that not surprising for a 33 year old car!! However as you will see in the pix the interior is still pretty mint!

I am looking to return it back to former glory and lowered on possibly some nice deepdish/split piece rims…?

Let me know what you all think? And any styling (retro original) and rim/suspension recommendations are all welcome!

I want to get her done in time for RunToTheSun (RTTS) This year in May if possible, so the clock is ticking!

Well I think being such a rare find that she deserves to be kept as "standard" as possible, but I will be lowering it and smacking some new rims on (any suggestions??)… I am thinking about going for the 'Newquay Look' with a CrazyQuiffs roof rack as the cherry on the cake!

Want to try and get it finished before RTTS, but that might be pushing it due to funds!  However will seriously be hitting some shows this year!  :mrgreen:
