hi paul, i have a white cabriolet on a j plate. Havent driven it for a while, but might get it out at the weekend!! ive always loved the convertable mk1 golfs, but only seriously thought about owning one recently. I bought mine in june. i havent been to any shows yet, im new to all this, like you!! the best place to find out about shows is on here. I cant help you with your fuel filler neck im afraid, but i know its a common problem with the mk1's. Try posting on the technical section, or the chat section- theres loads of really friendly, helpful people on here that will be able to help!!

the white golf cab was nice but not a gti like the one i have, plus the colour of this one is really nice, the interior is beutifull the roof doesnt leek like the white cab i had,its only had 2 owners from new and they have really looked after it,no rust and done 75k since 1988.the roof is original vinyl no cracks or marks.i will after get my garage sorted so i can keep it in there in winter.just got it insured as i only past my test 12 months ago,?440 fully comp i was very surprised, next thing is a top of the range alarm which will cost another ?250.if i upload some photos i will send you some.

ok, that would be great!! ill do the same, when i get round to it!! that insurance is cheap, thats what i pay and mines only TPFT, and ive been driving for 3 1/2 years with no claims!!! Everyone on here raves about a company called footman james for dirt cheap insurance for classic cars, ill need to give them a try!!

paul i think you can get a standard mk1 gti filler neck to fit but you need to adjust the rubber hose on the bottom of the neck to the tank, gsf stock them or ask crazyquif as he sells them and would have a good idea about fitment. good luck jim
Mk1 2l TSR G60. .getting. There twice as fast
Mk1 lhd diesel…….getting. There for half the cost
