hahhahaha, would have been worth more covered in the barn find muck. Auction gold.

They've washed polished and spoiled it…. Love the tyre shine on the re-inflated tyres.

Some nice cars in the rest of the catalogue, oh for a bigger garage! The Mk1 Cabby looks interesting , it may be a stolen recovered but guide price looks very low.

If it was a MOT'd runner , would make sense to tart it up and make it look its best.

As a restoration project best to leave as is and unmolested. Although looking at the painted front panel support, side stripes and black undersealed sill looks like its been done up at least once before.

Also why remove the interior, who knows what's missing, broken, put back in the wrong place now?

Yes the catalogue does have a vast selection covering everything you could think of; pre war, basic family, sports, luxury, US tanks, daily drivers, concourse, projects,  £50-£50,000+

Liking the silver XR2….

I had seen that a while back and am provisionally going to the auction.

I've been before but cars sell for really strong prices here, hence I walked away empty handed last time. I'm assuming the same will happen this time too!

Well there's certainly something for everyone in that auction.

But for those of us old  enough to remember back in the day.
That we would be seeing cars like Morris Ital, Marina, Austin Maxi, Maestro in a Classic Car auction!  :o
When I was selling cars back then for VW Audi and someone drove into our dealership with one of those four cars in particular, you'd see the car salesmen legging it out the back, trying to find places to hide, I kid you not!

There's one or I'd love to be going home with including the 1971 Ford Escort Mexico and for the money the 1992 BMW 320i Convertible estimated price of 3 to 4 grand.

Do you fancy buying it back?  Looks good if it goes close to guide price.  BTW in the first picture, had you got the MK1 bug already - or was that someone else's?

That's my brothers gti in the background which I bought and then started to restore.

Unfortunately my little one came along and ended up scrapping it after doing tons of work. Big regret

Yes it would be cool to have it back. Before I sold it I had the wheels refurbed by pristine and the archs and cambelt done. It was immaculate and original.

I sold it to a mechanic in Brighton so never saw it again.

Problem with these is that Renault are rip off merchants for parts and all the Williams parts are not available from anywhere else :(

Well the barn find made £2730 incl fees

http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auctions/latest-classic-car-catalogue/saturday-7th-november/1981-vw-golf-gti/

I took a look over it and to be honest I thought it was ropey! Lower rear corners were rotten, a lot of surface rust dotted over the place and when I opened the door, no carpets and a lot of water, so guess the webasto was leaking?

It wasn't even pushed on to the block. For £1k I may have bid, but I think it went for too much money for the condition it was in.

The MK3 Golf GTI there was super clean, mint interior and tick-over so quiet you couldn't hear it. That went for about £2800 incl fees!!! I didn't raise my hand for a bid on that either, couldn't believe how much it went for - it's still a MK3 after all! lol

It did, there were some strong prices there for sure! Needless to say I came back empty handed, along with the other two chaps I went with.

Yes some really strong prices, but a few that I would have snapped up - but guess looked worse in metal.  however the Merc 300CE did gut me a bit, always liked these, colour not perfect but so much of a useable classic for well unde £3k.

Final strange one was the 2CV, only £950, looked okay on pic but guess chassis had gone, but nice restored ones going for £5k plus.  Had a couple of these years ago and they were the few in my 50 cars that I made some money on.

Oh for a bit more space…..

The 2cv was a bit of a dog! I didn't have a close look as at 20 paces could see some patches badly welded on!!
