What tyre size for my cabby??

Post

im a bit "green" when it comes to wheel tyre combinations. I have a set of 15" 7j lenso alloys with 205 50 15 tyres. The rears seem fine but the fronts are rubbing occasionally. What's the best/ easiest way to get over this?? Lower profile? Stretch tyres?? I'm at a bit of a loss!!
The car has the clipper body kit if that makes any difference……
HELP!!!

Hi, I'm no expert but I do know that 205 50 15 tyres are to big for the standard setup.

195 50 15 tyres is the maximum I think you'll find.
That's what I run on my Cabby with no problems at all.

I'd say so but hang fire until the rubber booty experts have had a say!

You don't need then tonight hopefully.

195/45 or 185/55 would be a good choice. 205/50 is way to big.

I'm running 195/50x15's on all my Golfies at the moment, no issues but I've already decided to replace the tyres with 195/45x15's when they are due. I had 175/50x15's on my LS (also on 7J) and it looked good with a bit of stretch and low going for it but hard to find and pricey if you do.

195/50 is factory, 45 will give a lower profile and put the speed out slightly. not that its that accurate as standard mind, and with 205 it'll be out anyway ;)

i had 195 x45x 15 on my 1988 rivarge convertible.the problem was i needed a work out every time i drove it  ,swopped them for some 175x50x15 they look slightly stretched on the rims and made the car really nice to drive .i know its a little of the beaten track from your question but its something to keep in mind
