Rear axle

Hi, well I've been looking around ( not really after another car but you never know ) and just so happened to find a 82 1.1 5door near me what's had a 1.3 on carbs dropped in.
Went have a look as didn't look to bad and when got there it wasn't BUT and there's always one but the back axle looked like it was to one side and was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on this????

As you look from the back the drivers side ( right as you look from behind ) looked like it sat just inside the arch like it should but the other side ( left as look from back / passenger side ) was a good inch or 2 inside the arch… Like it had been banged across ( hit curb etc ) but its not long just passed an M.O.T and hasn't been on the road for last few years so if any body could help with any info that might help thanks…

Sorry for dragging it out Dibz

might need a stub axle or the whole beam could be bent, no big deal either way.

what wheels were on it? if aftermarket one may be different offset, or it may have a spacer missing

Yer after market wheels… When speaking to bloke who owns it now he's never had it on road as he's been fixing problems on it since he got it as it was an unseen buy of eBay… But he said serposed be another set of wheels on it but when he got there theyed changed then for 1s on it know so that's what made me think it might of hit a curb… But never thought of spacers and I'm going have another look so will check the other things thanks johnny……

If the guy has never had it on the road due to continually fixing problems it may be one to leave alone and look else where.

Can you jack it up and have a good look underneath?
The rear beam is a big old bit of metal and holds both wheels, it could be the mounting points have rusted away (weak point if not looked after) and that's why the rear beam is on an angle.
Rear arches been replaced badly?
If it doubt I would walk away.
