Rear shock problem

Post

Just tried changing a rear spring. Nice easy job I thought,
 How wrong was I.
The bolt thAt goes through the bush on the bottom of the shock is rusted solid inside the bush. Is there any way to get this out without ripping the bush to peices?? Anyone else had this prob??

Order two new bolts and then hacksaw thru the old one. Use lots of copper grease with the new one to give the next person a fighting chance. Oh, and you'll need to replace the shockers too.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

if shock is ok support car on stands and undo the other side, it should drop down enough you can change the spring without removing shock. bit of a bodge I suppose but at least you an save this nasty job for another day

Cheers guys. The bolt is solid so I've ordered a new shock going to cut the old one out. This is why I don't fix cars. Lol
