Mk1 gti uprated pads

Hi all, what pads are people running on there vwII gti calipers. I was wanting to run feroddo DS2500 but apparently they aren't road legal because they aren't reg 90 approved, because there more grippy than the oe pads. Can anyone confirm this, or are you running them? Also what other pads do people recomend?
